Beta HCG
Beta-hCG — quantitative pregnancy test; also used in fertility treatment and to monitor certain tumours.
About this test
Quantitative Beta-hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) measures the exact level of pregnancy hormone in blood. It is more sensitive than urine pregnancy tests and is used to confirm early pregnancy (positive from ~8–10 days after conception), monitor IVF treatment, follow up miscarriage / ectopic pregnancy, and monitor gestational trophoblastic disease and germ-cell tumours. A single blood draw is sufficient; no fasting required.
