Vitamin B12 — tests for deficiency that causes anaemia, nerve damage, fatigue and memory issues.
About this test
Vitamin B12 deficiency is common in vegetarians, the elderly, patients on metformin or PPIs, and those with absorption disorders. It causes megaloblastic anaemia, peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling), fatigue, cognitive slowing and even reversible dementia in severe cases. Early detection allows simple correction with oral or injectable supplementation. The test is a straightforward blood draw with no fasting needed.
