Sleep Deprived EEG (STMV) (1hour)

EEG (Electroencephalogram) — records brain electrical activity to diagnose epilepsy, seizures and sleep disorders.

About this test

An EEG records the electrical activity of the brain via small electrodes placed on the scalp. It is the primary diagnostic test for epilepsy, seizures, unexplained loss of consciousness, sleep disorders, encephalopathy and certain headache disorders. The standard recording takes 30–60 minutes. Sleep-deprived EEG (after a short night) is sometimes requested for higher diagnostic yield. The test is completely painless — no needles or electric current.
