About this test
The HIV test screens for antibodies against HIV-1 and HIV-2 in blood. It is recommended for anyone with possible exposure, before surgery, in antenatal panels, and as part of routine sexual-health screening. Modern 4th-generation tests detect both antibody and p24 antigen — reducing the window period to ~3 weeks after exposure. All results are strictly confidential. At Classic Diagnostics, samples are processed using CLIA, with reactive samples confirmed by Western blot or alternative assays.
