MICROBIOLOGY in Delhi
Microbiology at Classic Diagnostics — culture and sensitivity, smears, antigen detection and rapid microbial diagnostics for bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections.
What is Microbiology testing?
Microbiology identifies the organism causing an infection (bacteria, fungi, parasites) and tests its sensitivity to antibiotics. Tests include cultures of urine, blood, sputum, pus, stool, throat swab, vaginal swab, and other specimens — typically combined with smears and rapid antigen detection.
Common microbiology tests
Urine culture & sensitivity · Blood culture · Sputum culture · Throat swab culture · Stool culture · Wound / pus culture · Vaginal/cervical culture · Gram stain · AFB stain (TB screening) · KOH mount (fungal) · Gene Xpert / TB-PCR · Stool ova / cyst microscopy.
Sample collection & timing
Cultures need 24–72 hours for organism growth. Antibiotic sensitivity takes an additional 24–48 hours. Some samples (early morning sputum, midstream urine) require specific collection — our coordinators give detailed instructions.
